Our brand is one of our most valuable strategic assets. It shapes how we are perceived – and it provides the strategic platform to accumulate brand equity, which enables price premiums, customer preference and loyalty, strong ecosystems, and sustainable growth.
A strong brand is built through authenticity, reliability, and the consistent delivery of our promises across every touchpoint. Everyone at ZEISS plays a role in protecting our brand today, strengthening it for the future, and showing the world – every day – what Seeing beyond means.

ZEISS is made up of a diverse portfolio of strategic business units (SBUs) generally grouped into segments, represented by a large number of regional sales and service companies (SSCs), and supported by different business supporting functions (BSFs). Although roles and perspectives may differ, all these entities share a common vision, mission, strategy, values – and the same Brand Identity. That’s why ZEISS uses a Branded House architecture with ZEISS as our Corporate Brand.
A Branded House reflects one simple truth: To the outside world, ZEISS is one entity. It allows each strategic business unit to benefit from the collective trust and recognition we build together – and, in turn, to contribute to that shared reputation with every product, service, and customer interaction.
ZEISS, as our Corporate Brand, provides a shared purpose and a clear Brand Identity to serve as the strategic and emotional anchor for all our activities. It is a long-term business asset – building recognition, trust, and preference in the minds of our audiences, attracting talent, supporting premium positioning, and enabling commercial success across all segments.
Corporate Brand, Communications & Public Affairs (CBC), as a business supporting function, is responsible for protecting and growing the ZEISS Brand – safeguarding the identity and reputation we’ve built over generations through responsibility, precision, and innovation. CBC defines and governs brand standards, approves exceptions, and generally leads the efforts to ensure the brand remains strong, focused, and ready for the future, so it can optimally support the ambitions of all our business segments. CBC provides frameworks, tools, and guidance to ensure coherence in the experiences we create.
CBC also builds broad brand awareness and preference through centrally driven brand marketing initiatives that create momentum and open up opportunities for all commercial teams.
The Corporate Standard Operating Procedure (CSOP CO.05) in the ZEISS Management System rules how the deployment of the ZEISS Brand is managed.
Each strategic business unit or business supporting function plays a critical role in bringing the ZEISS Brand to life in their own context – through products, services, innovations, and the relationships they build with their target groups. While each team may have unique goals and audiences, every interaction contributes to a single, unified ZEISS Brand Experience and builds the brand equity we all share. By strengthening this shared asset, teams not only invest in the brand – they also benefit from the trust, recognition, and opportunities it creates across the entire ZEISS network.
ZEISS is made up of many successful teams and entities, but our true strength lies in how we unite as one ZEISS. Guided by our Brand Strategy, we are able to move in a shared direction.

Every action, interaction, and decision shapes how the world perceives ZEISS.

Deliver the same quality, character, and care in everything you do.

Your success strengthens the whole brand, and the brand amplifies your success.

Make decisions that benefit all of ZEISS, not just your own area.
A Branded House architecture is an opportunity but also a great responsibility: Harming the brand means harming the whole business. That’s why the Brand Strategy and Brand Management Principles act as safeguards.
ZEISS is our primary brand. Product names, labels, and all of our other trademarks play a subordinate role. This means that each product and service bears the brand name ZEISS. “Carl Zeiss” is not used to brand our offerings, but only to identify organizational units or the company’s founder.
The application of the ZEISS Brand Identity, Brand Management Principles, and Brand Design Elements is mandatory. There are no segment- or SBU-specific brand identities. Segment- or SBU-specific statements, value propositions, and Target Group Positionings are aligned with the ZEISS Brand Identity and with the Corporate Brand Positioning.
ZEISS migrates acquired brands to ZEISS. The equities of the acquired brand are evaluated during due diligence and determine a potential brand migration process.
Names of products or product lines are not developed and managed as stand-alone brands, but are used in combination and with reference to the ZEISS Brand. As a result, no logos are developed for product (line) names.
To avoid potential damage to the ZEISS Brand, any combination of ZEISS and a third-party brand is carefully evaluated and subject to a stringent approval process. This way, we ensure that the combination builds brand equity for ZEISS.
Our intention is to strengthen and leverage the ZEISS Brand as much as possible and avoid dilution by other brands. For certain business opportunities, such as OEMs, non-strategic equity alliances, venture activities, or other similar product brands, exceptions can be made.
