At many ZEISS sites, multiple business units are housed in the same building. In addition to the clearly visible logo on the exterior of the building, the ZEISS signage and orientation system comprises different types of signs which are primarily used indoors. These identify the building, functions, and business units. To ensure consistent brand presence across all signage, the signs must be consistent and designed with the user in mind.Â

The ZEISS Logo is the only element on a building's exterior that is visible from far away. For visitors and customers, this is the first thing they see and serves as a point of orientation. Thus, there is never any additional lettering next to the ZEISS Logo. Ideally, the logo placed on the exterior of the building can be seen at a distance from multiple directions. The right position for a backlit logo on the front of the building requires a preliminary photographic analysis from all angles. This analysis is performed from the different vantage points along the primary pathways that run around the building.

Signs are deployed in front of and inside buildings to provide guidance. A preliminary photographic analysis must also be performed. The ZEISS Logo is only to be used in areas accessible to the public, such as in front of the building and in the entrance area. In areas not accessible to the public, the building or floor numbers are visible at the top right rather than the logo. Wall indicators help people find function and conference rooms inside. Templates for signage systems are available in the download area.

The templates for the reception area are ideal for providing a personalized welcome to visitors at the ZEISS sites. Various templates, for example, with or without a background image, date, or customer logo, are available for this purpose.

In parking lots shared with other companies, the ZEISS Logo is found on the right-hand side of the parking signs for the designated ZEISS parking spots. A parking lot that is part of the ZEISS premises and used solely by ZEISS does not require any logo on the parking lot sign.
